Asian Hospitality

Having visitors in the house is not a burden for me. Like most Asians, I must be gifted with that gift of hospitality. I am also happy that I share that gift with hubby. Most of the time we would have visitors either come over for a meal or stay a night or two, and we love it. I usually do the cooking, which is one of my gifts. It’s always a great feeling to be complimented, so I am inspired to experiment more on dishes that I have always wanted to learn.

We don’t have beer supplies in the fridge, though, but we always make it a point that our visitors would leave our house happy, and looking forward to another visit!

Lingering in the Shower

Who does not enjoy cold shower after a long day at work? It sure is one of the things that I look forward to—especially in this very hot and humid season!

Sometimes I just want to linger in the shower longer. With my busy schedule and all the chores at home, showering is definitely one of my “me” times. I should look into rustic bathroom vanities soon, because I want to give our bathroom a new look. It’s actually not that old, but I was thinking , since it has become one of my favorite rooms in the house, I should make it look great!

Men are Cooking

They say that a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Yes, serve your man with delectable dishes and he will surely stick with you, forever. But this has changed and evolved somehow. Many men nowadays are into culinary and cooking and serving up a storm of yummy and pleasing-to-the-eye-and-palate gourmet dishes to their girlfriends or wives.

Cooking something new or out of the ordinary can be a gourmet gift your girlfriend will love. It will definitely mean a lot for a girl to be given one and will surely make her feel very special. It is really not a run of the mill for a guy to be cooking but if you have one, then you are just one lucky gal.

Ice Age Village App

Yeppers. I have downloaded another game app on my iPad, as promised to Samantha if she could finish her book 14 last week. LOL. So all three of us, Samantha, Schenker and I are playing it.

Actually, the kids do get to play with my iPad on the weekend, after they do their homeworks. It was Samantha who saw this game a couple of weeks ago and she’s been bugging me to have this on my iPad ever since coz she saw the movies too.

Kids nowadays are different. They are very quick to learn. Sometimes, they tell me what to do with the games we have. LOL. Playing games is sort of like a bonding with the kids these days. It would probably be nice to check out be ChaiseLounges.com for chaise chairs for us to sit on while playing games. Hehehe. For now, it’s our own cozy sofa we’re using.

Paper Crafts

One of the things my son enjoy doing is doing stuff out of paper. He would make different things like sword, starship, etc. He is so much into Star Wars stuff now. So everything he does is Star Wars related. It’s quite impressive though, the way he does things.

I remember last year when I didn’t have my iPad yet. He made an iPad by drawing it on the paper. LOL. I was really impressed.

I wonder what he’s going to be like when he grows up coz he likes metal building, too. Would he be an engineer and design metal buildings? Hmmmm… only time can tell. For now, our role as parents is to discover and enhance that God-given talents in our kids.

Guitar Lessons

My son Schenker told me he wants to learn to play the piano, drums, and guitar. He started his piano lessons recently, and it’s evident that the quality of the piano strings affects the sound quality- like any other stringed instruments.

So, if I were to get a guitar for Schenker, or for myself (I stopped learning because of the time commitment) I’d make sure I get Dr Strings Guitar Strings. They are handmade! I can choose red (my favorite color) glow-in-the-dark-neon-strings and the sound quality would still be excellent!

A House Makeover

One of the things that I miss about being a stay-at-home mom is shopping for house decors and new furniture. These days I only have weekends free so I don’t have the energy to think about decorating the house or giving it a new look.

I should give it time during the school break. I can’t wait for the long holidays! I already so many things in mind on what to do, and relaxation with the family definitely tops the list!

Looking at Ethan Allen site definitely gave me more inspiration. I wish I could hire one of their experts to come and take a look at our house and do the makeover themselves! But since that would not be possible, I guess I just have to rely on my creativity do to it myself.

Mother’s Day is almost Here

Yesh. Mothers’ Day is almost here. Everytime I think of this special day, I think about my mother and what to get her. I don’t usually think of myself as a mom and what I could get. Not sure why. Am I still on denial stage? Hopefully not.

Anyways, I have been giving my mother rings and necklaces and what not. I am not sure what to get for her this time.

Any ideas on what to give Mom on Mother’s Day? Anyone?

Skyping with my Sister

One of the things I am thankful about technology is the video conferencing services. I get to video skype with my family. My sister lives in Hawaii and everytime we skype, we talk for hours. Really. While skyping, we would be doing our own thing – cooking, cleaning the house, washing clothes, and even eating. We sometimes joke that we’re like neighbors. We know everything we’re doing – except that we cannot borrow some things.

Me, A Happy Teacher

I am one of those people who have been blessed with a job in line with my profession shortly after my college graduation. I say I am blessed because not all people can have that same opportunity I had.

I was happy with my job, but then I had to go overseas. I have no regrets with my decision, and I am grateful that I was able to use my training well for such a challenging job.

Some friends ask me if I miss my engineering job. Sometimes I do, actually. But I have to say that I am enjoying my current job. I don’t use any of those concrete blades anymore, but teaching young lives is equally fulfilling.
